When the ministers would have
persuaded him that he should allow something to the friars in common at the
least, so that the multitude should have that to which it might have recourse,
Francis called upon Christ in prayer and took counsel with Him. Christ immediately answered him, saying, “I
confer all things in general and in special; I shall always be ready to provide
for this family however much as it may increase, and ever will I cherish it as
long as it shall hope in Me.”
